And by far the most common issue with dog owners is pets that have fleas. Fleas happen a lot during the winter time because of the temperature in the air. Dogs that get fleas are usually going to be getting them the rest of their lives. In fact almost 75 percent of dogs get fleas every single year. I know it might seem like something that is easy to fix but I can assure you it is more difficult than a normal problem. Dog fleas can usually be cured with a medical shampoo or maybe even a couple home remedies. Usually people just use the medical shampoo which is what I usually do. Never put all your eggs in one basket and always remember to test new things. Your dogs fleas may react differently to the shampoo and it might do nothing for them. There are also some medications that you can give to your dogs but I have heard it can make you sick. Being myself that is currently studying to be veterinarian specifically for dogs I want to say that some natural remedies are much better for your dogs.
My favorite natural remedy for fleas is usually apple cider vinegar. I have told a few of my recent clients to give it a try so they did. The results I have heard from them astound me. Being a veterinarian I will have to hand out medical ointment for fleas to all of my patients. However I am usually going to recommend apple cider vinegar to them just in case it does not work. Which is actually very rare but still. If you notice no difference in your fleas you should try apple cider vinegar instead.
I also believe that tea tree oil was fantastic for killing fleas. Its natural and easy to get your hands on. Try this out as well if you want to try something new. I personally have never attempted to do this to my dogs. But I know that a lot of websites online talk all about it.
So there you go, medical shampoo, apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil is really all you need. Eventually you will get used to it and will be able to have your dog flea free by the beginning of the winter. :)
